ARA Petroleum inks MoU with the National University of Science and Technology

MUSCAT: ARA Petroleum E&P (ARA), a dynamic energy company within the Zubair Corporation group recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National University of Science and Technology in Oman. The MoU, which was signed by Dr. Omar Al Jaidi, General Manager of ARA EP, and Dr. Salem Al Araimi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, on behalf of the university, aims to enhance cooperation between the energy and the academic sectors in the fields of research and innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Omar said, “We are aware of the role the National University plays in developing a working system of scientific research and innovation across several fields. The MoU with the National University of Science and Technology will enhance ties between the industrial and academic sectors through innovative solutions and applied research to meet challenges and raise efficiency within industrial and energy sectors.”

The National University of Science and Technology believes that partnerships with other industrial organizations enables the University to lead in in these sectors by utilizing the most diverse, highest-attaining student bodies. These partnerships also have the potential to make an impact on curriculum development, collaborative teaching programmes and research networks.

Dr. Ali Bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of National University of Science and Technology added, “The collaboration aims to find solutions to the challenges faced by the two institutions, whether in the field of education or in the field of energy. He stressed that the memorandum would help contribute to the professional development of students and faculty members at the University as well as implement joint research projects in areas of interest to both the University and ARA. Results and achievements will be monitored and evaluated over a period of 6 months. We hope to evaluate our accomplishments after this period to continue our journey of technological advancements that aid both entities.”

Established in 2014, ARA Petroleum is a dynamic member of the Exploration & Production industry in Oman. The company is a full cycle Exploration & Production company which explores, appraises, develops, and produces oil & gas resources both in Oman and internationally. ARA operates on the doctrine of No Harm to People, No Harm to The Environment and is taking giant strides towards becoming a carbon neutral operator. ARA operates several companies, namely ARA Petroleum E&P, ARA Petroleum B-44, ARA Petroleum B-31, and ARA Petroleum Tanzania.

The National University of Science and Technology, as a private university in the Sultanate of Oman, was established in the year 2018. The university was established through the merger of Caledonian College of Engineering and Oman Medical College, two institutions known for their excellence in providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs and scientific research in the fields of engineering, medicine and pharmacy. The university currently includes the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the College of Pharmacy, in addition to the Oman International Maritime College and the College of Advanced Technology.
