Ahead of the soft launch of Energy Oman – the new print and digital magazine of the Sultanate’s dynamic energy sector – a core team of Omani energy industry professionals volunteering their services as Editorial Advisory Board Members met here recently to review progress made in the roll-out of this keenly anticipated publication. EO – the product of a partnership between Oman Daily Observer and Birba Energy – will be formally launched later this year against the backdrop of celebrations marking the Sultanate’s 50th National Day. But an early edition will be unveiled in October, offering industry professionals and other stakeholders a foretaste of what Energy Oman encapsulates as a one-stop information resource for the country’s rapidly diversifying energy industry.
Advising the EO team in its editorial coverage is a five-member Advisory Board comprising Eng. Saif Al Salmani, Dr. Omar Al Jaaidi, Dr. Anwar Al Kharusi and Eng. Fahmi Al Mashrafi, with Eng. Abdullah Al Harthy as Chairman. At their inaugural meeting, the Advisory Board welcomed the idea of a publication project with a broad-based focus encompassing not just Oil & Gas, but also Renewable and Alternative Sources, Energy Efficiency and Energy Security, Electricity and Utilities, Green Hydrogen, Climate Change and Decarbonisation, and so on. EO’s commitment to spotlighting themes of strategic national significance, notably human capital development, localisation, R&D and In-Country Value, was also lauded.
The Advisory Board also welcomed the support extended by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals to the magazine project. In a letter to the EO team, HE Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Energy and Minerals, noted the importance of an industry magazine devoted to coverage of Oman’s evolving energy industry, while also serving as a platform for information dissemination, discussion and debate.EO will be launched as a bimonthly print and digital magazine and distributed free of charge on multiple online platforms.
