MUSCAT: Oman LNG has succeeded in wooing new markets in the Middle East, East Asia and Europe to buy its LNG output starting from 2025, when it secures a renewal of its license to operate its 3-train liquefaction plant in the Wilayat of Sur.

Hamad bin Mohammed al Naamany, CEO, commented: “The total number of binding term sheets signed by the company since the beginning of this year has reached 14 agreements with a number of major international companies from Japan, Thailand, China, Turkey and Germany. Per these pacts, Oman LNG is now committed to exporting about 10.4 million metric tonnes of LNG starting from 2025.

Al Naamany said in a statement to ONA that these agreements come within the framework of the company’s endeavour to consolidate the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a reliable source of energy, increase growth opportunities, benefit from the economic opportunities of global energy markets and consolidate strategic partnerships with various energy companies.

“These agreements confirm the company’s commitment to supporting the national economy by finding new markets to supply liquefied natural gas from the Sultanate of Oman, and it looks forward to strengthening its relations with the public and private sector,” he stated.

Oman LNG has also funded a number of charitable projects and initiative within the framework of social responsibility commitments. They included a National Autism Center in Muscat, and Traffic Safety Institute in the Wilayat of Sur. The company also financed the outfitting of a dialysis unit in the Wilayat of Bidiya. Total contribution towards CSR activities is over $230 million, he added.
