MUSCAT: The Environment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman held a workshop on Wednesday, 15 February 2023, on facilitating nationally determined contributions (NDCs) towards the control of climate change impacts on basic economic sectors.

The workshop elaborates on the current progress in contributions made in Oman for alleviating and adapting to climate change. It discusses innovative local solutions, capacity building for addressing the impact of climate change on economic sectors, the main challenges and the best practices to achieve such objectives at a national level.

Khoula Mohammed Al Zahrani, Director General of National Policies and Programmes at the Ministry of Economy, said in a speech that the workshop seeks to compile a report on Oman’s efforts in implementing the NDCs, defining the main challenges facing NDCs’ implementation and discussing innovative local solutions designed to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

The workshop also aims to draft requirements for the type of cooperation that Oman needs in the fields of capacity building, technology transfer and financing, she added.
