MUSCAT: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has launched an electronic platform where requests for gas purchases are received and settled.
The platform serves companies wishing to get gas supplies for their existing or planned projects in Oman in line with the government’s approach to achieve electronic transition and help the ministry provide its services in an efficient manner.
The electronic platform [gasapplications.mem.gov.om] will allow the submission of requests for purchase and allocation of natural gas from new investors and existing consumers for industrial use.
It facilitates sending initial gas allocation conditions and receiving approval from investors or consumers. It offers optimum conditions for following up the status of the request with the authorities concerned. It enables the customers to send notes and receive replies and updates about gas requests.
Investors can avail the platform’s services through two stages. First the requests are submitted electronically. Then, the reply is conveyed to the customers after the application is processed. The request is studied by specialists to verify the requirements, the terms and other details.
Qassim Mohammed Al Amri, Acting Director General of Marketing at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, said that the inauguration of the new platform reflects the government’s efforts and its pursuit of electronic transition with the aim of facilitating the supply of services to individual investors and to the public in general.
The platform constitutes a step forward in handling gas supply requests, Al Amri added.
